The Process Technician is responsible for producing parts that meet the company's quality standards while maintaining standard cycle times and following established molding processes. The PT will perform level 3 QA audits; make color and material changes, mold insert changes and mold changes as dictated by the schedule. The PT will provide effective leadership of a team of operators in production to ensure accurate assembly of parts, compliance with plant safety and quality policies.  The PT will fill in for the Supervisor as needed.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Supervisory Aspects

  • Provides and executes leadership, direction, and development with teams and coworkers required to meet plant production requirements and objectives.
  • Provides guidance and coaching to employees on company culture, policies and procedure
  • Ensures all production employees are following safety, quality and environmental standards in accordance with GMPs to achieve overall zero safety and quality incidents and a world class performance culture.
  • Perform level 3 QA audits and monitor and maintain quality objectives
  • Report downtime reasons and rejects using IQMS.
  • Print work orders and perform 1st article inspections.
  • Identify cost saving opportunities and plans to reduce cost through labor efficiency, material usage, and equipment use/design.
  • Work with production and support department managers/leaders to maximize objectives.

 Technical Aspects

  • Maintain standard cycle times for all products and document and communicate any deviations to the Production Manager
  • Troubleshoot common and complex molding problems and perform corrective action.
  • Perform changeover, including mold changes, including water, air, hydraulic, and electrical connections and hot stamp change overs from installation to startup.
  • Correctly read, review and fill out appropriate documentation for material identification, special production requirements, hot stamp type & foil selection, instructions tags and labels.
  • Report all damaged or malfunctioning equipment to the Production Manager for prompt repair.
  • Perform color and material changes in a safe, clean, and timely manner.
  • Program color blender by entering shot weight and concentrate let down ratio to provide correct color for molded part.
  • Execute scheduled color changes to ensure product color is correct and uniform and done with minimum production overruns or waste.
  • Clean metal separators and magnets and remove any contaminated material to the designated area.
  • Report unusual findings the Production Manager.


  • Two years of classes in engineering or related field or equivalent experience:
    • Five (5) years' experience in a manufacturing environment with supervisory experience leading production employees; experience in injection molding a strong plus
    • Proven track record of leading teams and individuals to maximum potential and outcome:
      • Managing Quality, Safety and Environment
      • Driving Production Performance and Improvement
    • Must be a self- starter with high initiative and ability to work independently
    • Proven leadership abilities, i.e., coaching employees for success, completion of formalized leadership training is a plus
    • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks/projects to meet deadlines
    • Must be very adaptable to manage changes in priorities
    • Must be an active "change agent" for the organization very flexible for changing environment
    • Solid computer skills including Microsoft Office, manufacturing systems (IQ MS preferred)
    • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
